What is Dental Calculus? How Does Dental Calculus Cleaning Work?

Tartar (tartar, calculus) are hard structures formed as a result of the long-term residuality of the deposits we call bacterial plaque on the tooth surfaces.
Calcium and phosphate ions in saliva are effective in its formation.
These inorganic crystals precipitate on the uncleaned plaque and form hard structures on the tooth surface.
Oral hygiene should be observed in order to prevent the formation of tartar and it should be ensured that dental plaques are cleaned effectively.

Will Tartar Cleaning Harm My Teeth?

No, this process will not hurt as long as it is done properly.
Of course, it is necessary to clean the tartar without damaging the teeth and gums.
However, do not forget that the tartar and plaque on your teeth will damage your teeth and gums.

What is a Bacteria Plate?

Even a few minutes after brushing our teeth, a thin and transparent layer is formed and this is called biofilm.
As a result of bacterial invasion on this layer, a bacterial plaque (microbial dental plaque) is formed, which is the structure that actually damages our teeth.
Bacteria in plaque produce toxins (harmful substances). With toxins, the supporting periodontal tissues (fibers, etc.) surrounding the gums are destroyed and the tooth and gum move away from each other. Periodontal disease thus develops, and periodontal pockets become deeper unless they are treated and cleaned. This time, bacteria attach to the root surface covered with cement, which is more vulnerable than enamel, and the bone support of the tooth is also lost, and the tooth can be lost eventually by shaking.
By brushing our teeth, we interrupt the formation of this bacterial plaque and provide mechanical cleaning. In this way, we protect our teeth and gums by preventing bacteria from staying on our teeth for a long time.
